Issue Position: Economy and Jobs

Issue Position

Small businesses create jobs. But in a tough economy, they need help to make that happen. That's why we passed a bill to reduce red tape for businesses. In the long term, we'll make our local economy more competitive by reforming the tax code so businesses and growing industries like clean energy can move to New Jersey.

Senator Sweeney sponsored laws to raise our minimum wage and create New Jersey's Paid Family Leave program. He even helped design and pass a package of bills, known collectively as "Back to Work NJ," to create jobs and spur economic growth.

Together, we fought to expand access to loans and implement a $3,000 tax credit for every job created in our communities. These changes will make it easier for local businesses to invest and expand when our economy needs it the most.
