Issue Position: Our Plan to Lower Property Taxes

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2013
Issues: Taxes

Governor Christie's bi-partisan passage of the 2% property tax cap and pension-benefit reforms were an important first step to ending our standing as the highest taxed state in the nation. We credit people on both sides of the aisle who voted to pass it.
However, incumbent Democrats Van Drew, Albano and Andrzejczak are still blocking full implementation of Governor Christie's toolkit to lower property taxes. They and their Democratic colleagues in Trenton are standing in the way of true sick pay reform, civil service reform and preventing municipalities from sharing services.
We will work with Governor Christie to enact these reforms right away. Politics should no longer get in the way of providing comprehensive property tax relief to our residents.
