U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02), chair of the House Aviation Subcommittee, today issued the following statement after Congress passed a bipartisan bill to transfer funds within the FAA budget to alleviate the need for furloughs of air traffic controllers:

"The Obama Administrations' inaction to mitigate the furloughs of air traffic controllers created preventable frustrations to the flying public and airlines while causing inexcusable harm to our economy. The FAA should have properly planned for these long-known spending cuts as the Justice Department, Homeland Security and even Vice President Biden's office have done. Congress has now reaffirmed the flexibility FAA has always had to responsibly manage their operations without compromising the safety of the aviation system."
