Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY-16) issued the following statement after it was reported today that the Boston Marathon bombers intended to come to New York City and detonate their remaining explosives in Times Square.
"This news is further evidence that New York remains a primary target for terrorists, both domestic and foreign, and a forceful reason for New York City to have sufficient funding from Homeland Security to guard against such threats. The City faces far greater threats than seen in other parts of the country. I thank, and congratulate, the Boston Police Department, the FBI and all others involved in stopping these murderers for not only putting an end to the terror it Boston, but preventing it from spreading to New York."
Rep. Engel is the Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
