Rep. Swalwell Statement on the Act of Terror in Boston

Statement

Date: April 16, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15), a Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on the bombings in Boston yesterday:

"My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the bombings in Boston during the Boston Marathon yesterday. The attack is a painful reminder that the threat of terror is real, and we must remain vigilant and continue to take critical steps to protect our homeland.

"I will work with my colleagues on the Committee on Homeland Security to take action so such an attack does not happen again. I look forward to finding ways to increase the readiness of our first responders, enhance coordination between our federal and state law enforcement agencies and protect our nation's critical infrastructure such as our borders and ports.

"As a runner, the attack is particularly personal as it marred what is typically a great event and turned it into a tragedy. Rest assured, we will bring those responsible to justice. I also want to share my gratitude to the first responders and law enforcement officials who responded quickly and heroically to the scene."
