Salmon Introduces 2nd Bill of 113th Congress on Term Limits

Today, Congressman Matt Salmon (AZ-05) introduced his second piece of legislation of the 113th Congress. Salmon's latest bill proposes language for a Constitutional amendment that would impose universal term limits on both houses of Congress. Salmon was first elected to Congress in 1994 and served through 2000 when he stepped down to honor his three term pledge to his constituents. Congressman Salmon released the following statement regarding his bill:

"I have always believed that universal term limits will help make members of Congress more accountable to their constituents, not the special interests that often keep them in office. This is why I supported term limits during my first tenure in Congress, and kept true to my own unilateral term limit pledge. It's also why I am sponsoring legislation today to impose term limits again.

Believing they are no longer represented by their fellow citizens, people across America are increasingly favoring term limits for their Representatives and Senators. It is time for Congress to do our part and pass a Constitutional Amendment to implement term limits, and give the states the opportunity to act on the will of the people."--Congressman Matt Salmon (AZ-05)

Salmon's bill would limit Senators to no more than two full terms (12-years) and limit Representatives in the House to no more than three full terms (6-years).
