Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana), Chairman of the House Ways & Means Subcommittee on Oversight, issued the following statement on Tax Day:
"As taxpayers across America file their federal taxes today, the need for a reformed tax code with lowered rates has never been stronger. The current tax code, nearly four million words long, provides headaches for Americans families and small businesses. The cost of compliance alone with this tax code runs over $225 billion a year.
"Unlike the policies of the current Administration, House Republicans seek to improve the tax code while promoting initiatives that not only cut spending but promote growth. I remain committed to work with House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp to reform our nation's tax code to benefit our nation as a whole."
