U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) issued the following statement regarding the Nevada unemployment figures released earlier today:
"Nevadans have been forced to weather the storm for far too long, which is why I am disappointed our unemployment numbers rose this month. Just last week, Nevada's foreclosure rate returned to the number one spot in the country. It's clear that Congress must do everything within its power to get the Silver State back to work.
"Nevadans are resilient and willing to take advantage of every opportunity to create a better future for their children and grandchildren. Washington must take a critical look at policies currently in place and take steps that will help create these opportunities. I am optimistic that, with the right policies in place, Nevada will once again return to a period of prosperity," said Senator Dean Heller.
The Las Vegas Sun reported last week that the Silver State had the highest foreclosure rate in the country in March, with one in every 306 housing units receiving a foreclosure-related filing.
