Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from Cindy Engbert of Wheaton who was concerned about President Obama's proposed budget which taxes more, spends more and never balances.
"Here we have the president of the United States proposing $1 trillion in new taxes, $8 trillion in debt and only proposing to reform the corporate elements of our tax code. We can do a lot better. The pathway to doing this a lot better is what House Republican are advocating, and that is a budget that balances within 10 years, repeals the disastrous consequences of Obamacare and the rate hikes that are coming and ultimately getting our tax code down so it's competitive, it's simple, it's lower and it's fairer."
