In response to the President's fiscal year 2014 budget request, which was released today, Congressman Fleischmann made the following comments.
"The President finally submitted his budget request; unfortunately even though he took an additional nine weeks he's again presented a dud of a budget. At a point when our work force is at a 34 year low, what we need are pro-growth policies, not an additional $1.1 trillion in new taxes.
"If we are going to fix our spending and debt problems the President has to show more leadership than he did with this budget. He asks for tax increases and again has failed to truly address mandatory spending programs which must be reformed in order to have a successful long term budget. This budget never balances and moves us further away from job growth and fiscal responsibility."
