Ros-Lehtinen Pleased To Support Legislation To Make It Easier For The Public To Read & Understand Federal Legislation

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) was pleased to co-sponsor legislation that would make it easier for the public to read and understand federal legislative projects that eventually end up as legislation.

The "Readable Legislation Act of 2013" is a common sense and practical bill that would require bills that change existing law to reprint the affected section of the law in concise terms so the context is clear and the legislation can be easily understood.

This legislation is supported by such important organizations such as Citizens Against Government Waste, the National Taxpayers Union and others.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, "It's long overdue that Congress pass legislation similar to what 48 states have done: mandate that bills are easy to follow and comprehend. Some bills are thousands of pages long so I support efforts that makes reading them easier for the public and for the Members of Congress who vote on them. This bipartisan bill accomplishes just that and I'm proud to support it."
