Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) was selected to serve on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure "Panel on 21st Century Freight Transportation." The new transportation panel is tasked with examining the current state of freight transportation in the United States and improving ways to strengthen the U.S. economy through an efficient intermodal freight network.

"I am delighted to serve with my colleagues on this important transportation panel," said Congresswoman Hahn. "The rapid and reliable movement of goods from our nation's ports through highways, rail, and bridges is vital to the growth and sustainability of our local and national economies. As the co-founder of the PORTS Caucus, I know that our nation's transportation network starts and stops at our nation's ports. Each day, over one billion dollars worth of goods move through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, totaling approximately 40% of all the cargo that enters the United States. As the representative of the nation's largest port, I intend to bring this perspective to the panel to ensure that we can build a national intermodal freight system."

Other Democratic members on the panel are: Jerrold Nadler, NY, Ranking Member; Corrine Brown, FL; Daniel Lipinski, IL; and Albio Sires, NJ.
