Today, Governor Scott Walker declared April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month and is encouraging all Wisconsin citizens to "Wear Blue to Work" on Thursday, April 18, to promote awareness of child abuse prevention.

"All kids deserve a healthy, happy, and safe childhood," said Governor Walker. "This month and throughout the year, Tonette and I encourage everyone to play a role in protecting children."

Blue is the commemorative color for national child abuse prevention and awareness. Throughout the country, states, and local agencies are hosting events featuring the color blue or using blue pinwheels, a symbol for child abuse prevention, to bring visual awareness to this important issue affecting children and families.

Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch also sent an email encouraging state employees to wear blue tomorrow.
