Congressman George Holding has been selected by House Speaker John Boehner to join a delegation of Members of Congress to represent the U.S. House of Representatives at the funeral of Baroness Margaret Thatcher. Congressman Holding will travel to London this morning along with Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN). Congressman Holding released the following statement:
"Baroness Thatcher was a woman of conviction and strength, a champion of freedom and conservative principles. She once noted: "Defeat? I do not recognize the meaning of the word.' It was that mindset that made her President Reagan's staunchest ally in the fight against Communism. Our nation will be forever grateful for her leadership during the Cold War and for her friendship. The world has lost a great leader and I am very honored to be a part of the Congressional delegation that will offer heartfelt condolences on behalf of the House of Representatives and the American people."
