In a meeting with General Paul Selva, U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp this week made the case for Grand Forks Air Force Base to receive the KC-46A bed down mission. Selva, the Commander of the Air Force Air Mobility Command, is a key decision maker in the selection process. The Air Force is expected to make an announcement on the base selection for the KC-46A mission in early May.

"General Selva and I had a productive discussion about Grand Forks Air Force Base," said Heitkamp. "I made it very clear that the Grand Forks Air Force Base would be an ideal location for the new mission."

Heitkamp highlighted the first-rate infrastructure in Grand Forks and the minimal modifications that would be necessary for a new mission. Heitkamp also told Selva how much support the base receives from the Grand Forks community.

"The support the community gives Grand Forks Air Force Base is second to none," Heitkamp continued.

During her first few months in office, Heitkamp has repeatedly communicated with top military officials about the strengths of Grand Forks Air Force Base and the surrounding community. Heitkamp, a member of the committee that oversees homeland security, is working tirelessly to support all of North Dakota's military installations.
