Hastings: President's Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Offers More of the Same

Congressman Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement today on President Obama's Fiscal Year 2014 budget proposal:

"65 days after it was due by law, and after both bodies of Congress passed their own plans, President Obama has finally released his budget proposal for the country. Not surprisingly, his plan offers more of the same. The President proposes raising taxes on hardworking Americans by $1.1 trillion, increasing government spending by $964 billion more, and leaving our children and grandchildren with over $8 trillion in new debt to pay. What's more frightening, the President's budget never balances, keeping the country on an unsustainable path of bigger government and never-ending deficits.

"The American people deserve a responsible, balanced budget, like the plan the House of Representatives passed two weeks ago, which gives our job creators the certainty they need to put America back to work and help grow the economy. Hardworking Central Washingtonians want more jobs, more take-home pay, and more opportunity -- not more taxes and bigger government."
