Congressman Todd Young (R-IN9) released the following statement in response to President Obama's FY14 Budget proposal, a document that was sent to Congress today two months after the statutory deadline.
"In many senses, the budget proposal put forth by President Obama today is too little, too late."
"For the past two years, I have asked for Presidential leadership on our unsustainable social safety net programs. This budget finally pays lip service to the need to fix Medicare and Social Security, but only through miniscule reforms that do little to strengthen the programs."
"For the past two years, I have asked for Presidential leadership on tax reform. This budget appears to agree on some of the vision shared by House Republicans and Senate Democrats, but embraces very few policy changes to achieve it."
"For the past two years, I have asked for Presidential leadership in addressing our spending and debt issues, and this budget continues to ignore the issues. In fact, under his budget never comes close to coming into balance."
"On the surface, it's tempting to say this budget is a step in the right direction--but the details prove this budget is more of the same."--Rep. Todd Young (R-IN9)
