Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] released the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will reverse some of its proposed cuts to Medicare Advantage:
"Medicare Advantage provides quality health coverage to many seniors in Western Pennsylvania and cuts to this program seriously threaten access to health care services. I am pleased that CMS reconsidered the rate cut it proposed in February after the urging from hundreds of Members of Congress, and has instead replaced it with a 3.3% increase.
"While this is positive news for seniors in the short term, it does not address the significant cuts that President Obama's health care law makes to Medicare and Medicare Advantage. In the coming years, Medicare and Medicare Advantage will suffer hundreds of billions in cuts in order to fund the President's health care overhaul. Moving forward we must do more to preserve and strengthen this vital program."
