Today, U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) released the following statement in response to this morning's March unemployment report from the Labor Department:
"There can be no doubt that this jobs report was disappointing. Jobless claims shot up in March and employers added just 88,000 jobs, significantly lower than the amount needed to keep pace with population growth. Almost 500,000 Americans dropped out of the workforce entirely last month, and the labor market remains the weakest it has been in almost 35 years.
"The tax hikes President Obama insisted on at the beginning of the year certainly have not spurred economic growth. Yet, on the same day we received these dismal jobs numbers, the President is poised to finally unveil his new budget which will propose piling even more tax increases on the American people. With the tax and spend policies of the last five years failing so completely, one has to wonder why the Administration continues to blindly follow them down the economic rabbit hole."
Rep. Renacci is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he is a member of the Ways and Means Committee. Prior to his election he worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the health care industry, and owned and operated over 60 other businesses in the automotive and sports management fields.
