Today Congressman John B. Larson released the following statement on the passage of historic gun violence prevention legislation by the Connecticut State Legislature:
"In a true example of bipartisanship, the Connecticut State Legislature saw through their gun violence prevention legislation. Today, Republican Leaders Larry Cafero and John McKinney deserve recognition for their profiles in courage. Republicans across the nation should take the lead from our House and Senate who have demonstrated a path forward through compromise, dialogue and negotiation.
"I want to commend the leadership of Don Williams, Brendan Sharkey and Governor Malloy who have worked tirelessly since the events on 12/14. Our mission to end violence in all its forms is far from over, however today Connecticut has again illustrated why it is first in so many categories by taking steps forward. It is my hope that in the coming months, this important, bipartisan effort of the Connecticut legislature serves as an example for the entire country."
