U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today released the following video message ahead of the third anniversary of the President's health law.
Text of Hatch's message:
Hello, I'm Senator Orrin Hatch.
The President's health law -- ObamaCare -- turns three years old this weekend, but I don't think many people outside the White House will be blowing out any candles.
At every turn, ObamaCare has cost more, taxed more, and done less than the President told Americans it would.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has said the disastrous law is going to add $1.2 trillion to the debt over the next 10 years.
The independent Kaiser Family Foundation has said that health care premiums for families have already gone up by $3,000 since 2008, even though the President promised his law would reduce premiums by $2,500.
And the law includes about $1 trillion in new taxes on the American people.
ObamaCare is simply bad policy. That's why I voted against it three years ago and why I will continue to fight to repeal it every day.
I've already supported multiple efforts to fully repeal the law, and have introduced several pieces of legislation to repeal key parts of it, such as the medical device tax, the individual mandate, and the employer mandate, to name a few.
You have my commitment to continue to fight to repeal and replace ObamaCare with patient-centered reforms that increase both affordability and accessibility of health care in our country.
On this third anniversary, please join with me in continuing to push to repeal this disastrous law.
Thanks for listening. Have a great day.
