U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, chairman of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, issued the following statement today on the school safety report released by the NRA's National School Shield Task Force:
"The National School Shield Task Force's report is a very helpful contribution to the discussion about keeping our children safe at school. The report offers many constructive proposals to equip local schools with the flexibility and resources they need to ensure a safe environment for every student."
"We can and must find effective solutions to the problem of gun violence without compromising our Second Amendment rights. I look forward to reviewing the task force's recommendations in depth, along with other helpful proposals that may be offered, as we work toward the common goal of school safety," said Rokita.
