Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham, a member of the House Committee on the Budget released the following statement after Rep. Paul Ryan released his FY2014 budget proposal.
"The Republican Budget is a job-killing proposal that protects tax breaks for special interests like big oil and corporate jet owners, yet decimates programs that protect seniors and will help build a strong middle class in this country. This makes a mockery of our fiscal choices. Paul Ryan is once again playing Monopoly with our economy and the future of our country.
"The Ryan Republican Budget also seeks to refight the battles of the past. Whether it is repealing the Affordable Care Act, turning Medicare into a voucher program, or block granting Medicaid, the Republican proposals have been vetted by the American people and have been swiftly rejected. This is not the balanced approach that the American people want and support. This is not simply more of the same, it is worse and increasingly more harmful to working families."
