Dingell Statement on Perez Nomination for Secretary of Labor

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI12) issued the following statement in response to President Obama's nomination of Thomas E. Perez as Secretary of Labor.

"President Obama's nomination of Thomas Perez as Secretary of Labor indicates his ongoing commitment to protecting workers' rights. Perez's background in labor and civil rights issues makes him a well qualified candidate for this important post, and I hope his nomination process proceeds with all due fairness, respect, and speed. Secretary Solis did a fine job at the Department of Labor, and Perez, if confirmed, will have big shoes to fill and quite a lot of work before him to safeguard the prerogatives of American workers."
