Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed an inclusive Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) bill by a vote of 286-138:

"Today is a huge victory for all women in Michigan and around the country. One of my first legislative actions since becoming a member of Congress was to cosponsor a strong, inclusive VAWA reauthorization bill, and I'm proud to see this bill now heading to President Obama's desk for his signature. All women deserve protections from domestic violence and sexual assault, and the bill passed today does just that."
