Huizenga Votes To Balance The Budget

Statement

Date: March 21, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting in support of reforming the nation's entitlement programs, making government more efficient, and responsibly balancing the budget:

"Today's vote shows the determination of the House to get the nation's fiscal house in order. The House Republican budget reduces deficits by $4.6 trillion over the next ten years, not by raising taxes, but by targeting wasteful spending and making common-sense reforms to the drivers of the debt. Moving forward, the goal must be to reorder, prioritize and continue to reduce spending to ensure we are making government more efficient and more effective. We didn't get into this problem in a day and we won't get out of it in one either, but the budget passed today by the House starts to break Washington's addiction to spending. While not perfect, this budget is a dramatic step in the right direction and begins to put America on the path to fiscal solvency."
