"Not even a day after Ted Scardino, one of the brave West Webster firefighters shot last Christmas Eve, testified before Congress about the need for more gun reforms, we are once again shaken by another tragic shooting in our region. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. We are in a constant state of national mourning. The way to change that is to take swift congressional action to strengthen gun safety laws.
Right now, there is no place in the country - not a place of worship, a theater, a school, a grocery store - where we can enjoy our first amendment right to peaceful assembly. We must act."
