Rep. Graves Introduces The Defund Obamacare Act

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) introduced the Defund Obamacare Act, which prevents taxpayer dollars from being used to implement any part of Obamacare.

"I am committed to ripping out Obamacare by its roots, and will continue to be a leader in the fight to end this costly, burdensome and invasive law," said Rep. Graves. "The damage that Obamacare does to our economy and job creation is clear and irrefutable. It imposes a $1 trillion tax hike and 127 million hours of regulatory compliance--a real gut punch to those trying to recover from the last several years of economic hardship.

"Georgia's families and businesses simply can't afford a government-first health care plan," Graves continued. "It's time to get back to patient-first care, where we can make personal decisions with our doctors and without Washington bureaucrats in the room. Let's protect our taxpayer dollars from funding any part of Obamacare. Let's defund Obamacare now."

Specifically, the Defund Obamacare Act deauthorizes future appropriations and rescinds prior appropriations that would implement any provision under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111--148) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation act of 2010 (Public Law 111--152).

Rep. Graves' Defund Obamacare Act was previously introduced in the 112th Congress and had 74 cosponsors.
