U.S. Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) released the following statement on the House passage of a continuing resolution, H.R. 933, to fund government operations until September 30, 2013.
Congressman Barrow said:
"Washington has a spending problem, and the deficit reduction we're committed to is necessary if we're going to get our debt under control. But the 'meat ax' approach in the sequester is unnecessary and unwise. This legislation gives the Department of Defense the flexibility to implement spending cuts the way it sees fit. I believe that if you're going to ask folks to do more with less you have to give them the flexibility to do it right way. You can't economize if you don't prioritize, and this legislation allows the Defense Department to do both."
