Gingrey: Preserving welfare reform "essential"

Rep Gingrey today voted in favor of The Preserving Work Requirements for Welfare Programs Act, H.R. 890, bipartisan legislation that preserves the 1996 welfare work requirements.

"For years, these measures have helped families and individuals escape the cycle of poverty while reducing their dependence on government aid," Gingrey said.

As a response to the Obama administration's efforts to scale down these requirements, the House of Representatives passed similar legislation last fall.
