U.S. Congressman Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today released the following statement in reaction to the Senate's passage of their fiscal year 2014 budget:
"It's infuriating that the Democrat Senate's budget has been four years in the making, yet the end product is comprised of the same old policies that make liberals, liberals: $1 trillion in higher taxes, more spending, and an all around bigger federal government. This misguided proposal even includes $100 billion for a third stimulus program, despite the documented waste, fraud, and abuse that occurred as part of the first two. After ten years, the Senate budget would only offer a few hundred billion dollars worth of net cuts to a federal budget of $46 trillion, while raising taxes by $975 billion. But there's more: the Senate also voted down a balanced budget amendment -- proof that they want a free pass to continue the spending spree without any accountability or responsibility to the American people.
"Moving forward, I urge our House Republican leadership to stand firmly on conservative principles while they're negotiating our nation's spending guidelines. We must make real, targeted cuts in our budget. Let's get it right before it's too late."
