Representative Doug Collins (R-GA) has issued a statement regarding his vote earlier today in favor of House Budget Committee's proposal for the upcoming fiscal year, also known as Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-WI) Path to Prosperity:
"Leading in Washington means making tough decisions," said Collins. "That's something I've learned during my first three months in office, and I am proud of the work my office is doing to fight for the conservative values of Northeast Georgia and our nation. A component of that means voting in favor of smart, fiscally sound policies that will balance our federal budget and allow hardworking Americans to keep more of their own money. That's what my vote today was about -- a balanced budget proposal that will produce a stronger economy and help create American jobs.
"For five years now, the American people have suffered under the leadership of a president who refuses to even submit a budget, much less one that would restore our economic footing and remove the financial burdens our children are currently facing. It's time for Senate Democrats and President Obama to get serious about our fiscal problems, and work with those of us on the other side of the aisle to finally get something done in Washington. The American people are tired of their political antics, and continuing to propose higher taxes and delay private sector growth is simply unacceptable as we stare at $16 trillion in debt."
