Representative Doug Collins (R-GA) has released a statement following his attendance at today's House Committee on Foreign Affairs hearing, which centered around the recent uprisings in Syria, and noted yesterday's news reports of chemical attacks on the Syrian people:
"The press reports coming out of Syria in the past twenty-four hours cause for grave concern, and my heart breaks for the Syrian people as they continue to struggle under the Assad dictatorship. Tens of thousands of their people are dead, and millions have sought refuge in other countries. The Obama Administration must stop their awry policy efforts with Syria and find better ways to reorganize its humanitarian efforts to cease this anguish.
"We must look at this conflict as a chance to remove an ally of nearby Iran, which will ensure future stability for our longtime friend, Israel. Once the threat of Iran's nuclear development capability is distinguished, Israel and the United States will be able to more freely pursue our diplomatic interests in the region."
