U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (R-GA-07) House Budget Committee Member and Chairman of the RSC's Budget and Spending Taskforce, issued the following statement in support of passage of The Path to Prosperity: A Responsible, Balanced Budget¸ the House Budget Committee's FY 2014 budget resolution:

"The Path to Prosperity puts our nation's finances on track to balance in ten years, ending the cycle of burdening future generations with new debt and beginning a cycle of putting opportunity and certainty back into the hands of America's job creators. Right now we have a President and Senate who don't believe we need to balance our budgets in America. We know this because the budgets they present never balance. Rather than choosing a path to prosperity, they choose more taxing and more spending. Given this pattern, I am not confident that the President and Senate will join the House in support of the balanced budget the House passed today. I hope nonetheless that today's vote will help them to see where the will of the American people lies. The Senate is expected to vote on its own budget proposal before the week is out. Between the House-passed budget and the Senate's proposed budget, we are opening the door for a long-overdue conversation on how to put freedom and opportunity back on the table for Americans."
