Price Statement on Third Anniversary of the President's Health Care Law

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement ahead of the third anniversary of the president's health care law.

"Three years ago, President Obama and a Democrat majority in Washington jammed through the president's vision of health care -- a vision that raids Medicare to fund a new entitlement, that empowers a board of bureaucrats to effectively deny care to seniors, that raises taxes on families and job creators, and that will do irreparable harm to the doctor-patient relationship. The president's health care law violates every principle of health care we hold dear -- accessibility, affordability, choices, innovation, quality, and responsiveness.

"The status quo in health care is unacceptable. Costs are rising. Too many Americans are without health care coverage. Access is rapidly becoming a real problem. But, rather than empower Washington, we need patient-centered reforms that ensure patients, families, and doctors are in charge of health care decisions. There are positive solutions that have been offered to help every American have the financial wherewithal to purchase health care coverage, that solve the insurance challenges of portability and pre-existing illnesses, and that would end the practice of defensive medicine which wastes hundreds of billions of dollars every year.

"On the third anniversary of its enactment, those of us who believe in patient-centered solutions remain steadfast in our commitment to fully repeal the president's health care law so reforms may be enacted to expand access to quality, affordable health care choices for all Americans."
