Kirkpatrick Statement on Congressional Hearing For Jobs Bill (HR 687)

Location: Washington, DC

Today, a House Natural Resources subcommittee held a hearing to consider HR 687, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act, a bill that Rep. Kirkpatrick cosponsored with her Republican colleague, Rep. Paul Gosar. Below is Kirkpatrick's statement following the hearing:

"I am convinced there is a way to work together on the Superior mine project. Using the legislative process, we can develop a bill that not only brings jobs and economic stability to the region but includes measures to protect our water, land and air. I will push for responsible provisions like these in a final version of this legislation. And I am committed to a continuing dialogue with all stakeholders -- constituents, tribes and local governments. I believe this is the way to ensure the Superior mine can finally move forward."
