Congressman Tom Price, M.D (R-GA), vice chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, praised the passage of the House Republican budget, The Path to Prosperity: A Responsible, Balanced Budget, saying:
"The ingenuity and industriousness of the American people are the true engines of economic growth and opportunity in this country. House Republicans believe Washington ought to respect that fact. That is why the House of Representatives has passed a responsible, balanced budget that ensures government serves the people in an effective and accountable manner, instead of continuing to stand in the way of their dreams.
"Unlike the budget proposal from the Senate Democrat majority -- which raises taxes and never balances -- House Republicans have put forth a plan that will balance the nation's budget in 10 years. We do so without raising taxes because it is irresponsible and unfair for Washington to take more out of the hands of hard-working Americans in order to spend more. Our budget tackles the root causes of our spending-driven debt crisis so that we are saving and strengthening vital programs like Medicare, repairing the "safety net' and protecting our national security.
"By honoring our most important commitments to the American people and tackling the nation's debt, the House Republican budget would produce significant economic growth, spur job creation and help preserve the American Dream for generations to come. We call on President Obama to stop delaying the introduction of his budget and produce a serious plan to boost our economy and safeguard our nation's future."
