Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after the House Ways and Means committee approved H.R. 890, the Preserving Work Requirements for Welfare Programs Act of 2013:
"Hard-working Americans continue to struggle under the economic policies of this Administration. The welfare work requirements in this legislation preserve the integrity of programs designed to decrease welfare dependency and help people return to work. I encourage my colleagues in the House and Senate to pass this bill in order to reduce poverty and increase earnings."
