Pittenger: Republican Budget Saves Average Family $1500 in Taxes

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) joined the U.S. House of Representatives in passing the Republican "Path to Prosperity" budget, which balances the federal budget in 10 years while preserving and strengthening important programs like Medicare and Social Security.

"What would you do with an extra $1,500?" asked Congressman Pittenger. "That's the amount of money the average family will save next year thanks to the tax reforms included in the Republican budget. By allowing hardworking American families to keep more of their own money, we can stimulate the economy and create jobs."

The Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Resolution also protects the American economy by eliminating the federal government's deficit spending and reducing the national debt. Unsustainable government debt is the root cause of the financial calamity currently striking Greece, Italy, Cyprus, and other European nations.

The budget includes common-sense reforms to:

Stop spending money we don't have by cutting wasteful spending

Fix our broken tax code to create jobs and increase wages

Protect and strengthen important priorities like Medicaid and national security

Reform welfare programs like Medicaid so they can deliver on their promise
