Hartzler Statement on DoD Announcement Regarding Civilian Furloughs

Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Hartzler, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, has issued the following statement on the Defense Department's announcement affecting civilian employees on U.S. military installations:

"I am pleased that our efforts to lessen the pain of sequestration and civilian employee furloughs are beginning to bear fruit. As a result of the recently-passed continuing resolution and its rearranging of funding priorities, the furloughs will be shortened from the planned 22 days to 14 days. While it is encouraging to see a terrible situation made less painful, this issue is still far from resolved. I will continue to work with my colleagues to reverse the impact of sequestration on hard working civilians as well as our men and women in uniform."
