Lamborn Statement on President Obama's 2013 State of the Union Address

Statement

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) issued the following statement in reaction to President Obama's State of the Union Address:

"President Obama talked about helping the middle class, but his policies have been disastrous for working Americans. His only solution is to spend more money. We cannot measure compassion by how much we spend on poverty, but how many people we help to rise out of poverty. Adding endlessly to the debt is not compassionate--it is destructive. Real compassion demands reform.

"I wish the President had talked about creating American jobs by opening up the Keystone Pipeline. I wish he had put forward a reasonable plan for protecting our military from the reckless spending cuts known as sequestration.

"We know that all people thrive and prosper with a minimum of government burdens. That is my vision for how we achieve economic prosperity. Clearly, it differs sharply from President Obama's."-- Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
