Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson released the following statement on the President signing into law the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act:

"I was proud to attend the President's signing ceremony for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. Passage of VAWA was a bipartisan effort. By working together, we expanded protections to the LGBT, Native American, and immigrant communities. This law sends a strong and collective message that our nation will not tolerate these acts of violence. I will continue to advocate for victims of domestic violence, and to ensure that they receive the protections and services they deserve."
