Congressman Cantor Statement On February Jobs Report

Statement

Date: March 8, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) released the following statement on the national jobs report for February 2013:

"Today's jobs report is good news and shows some progress in the right direction with 236,000 new jobs added. While this is a positive development, we still have a long way to go. There are too many moms and dads struggling paycheck to paycheck to support their families. There are too many people who want to work, but can't find jobs that match their skills. And there are too many college graduates who can't find jobs in their field of study or repay their student loans. In this environment, we need to do everything we can to help people find work.

"We must ensure those looking for work have access to the skills and resources they need to fill existing positions. Next week, the House will consider the SKILLS Act to better connect workers with the education and training they need to compete for available jobs. The more we can provide American workers with access to the skills they need for the changing job market, the more we can grow the economy, expand opportunity and make life work again for more people."
