Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44), an original co-sponsor of H.R.437 joined her colleagues Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (NY-04) and Congressman Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) as they introduced the new assault weapons ban in the House of Representatives.

"This legislation is a vital step towards ending the repeated pattern of senseless violence that has plagued our communities for far too long," said Congresswoman Hahn. "Military assault weapons and high-capacity magazines do not belong in our neighborhoods. Our children should not have to live in fear of going to school. It is my hope that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle will support this responsible measure. Let us act now to pass this common sense legislation," Hahn added.

This legislation bans the sale, transfer, importation or manufacturing of over 100 specifically-named firearms, ban magazines that can carry more than 10 cartridges and eliminates the ten year sunset that allowed the original ban to expire.
