Isakson, Chambliss Co-Sponsor Bill to Keep VA Clinic Open in Cobb County

U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., this week co-sponsored the Keep Our Commitment to Veterans Act, which would allow the Cobb County Community-Based Outpatient Clinic and other VA health care facilities across the country to keep their doors open.

The bill addresses the issue of how the VA can continue to lease facilities and operate clinics in keeping with new Congressional Budget Office requirements for paying up front for long-term leases. The Keep Our Commitment to Veterans Act would give the VA the congressional approval necessary to allow clinics to continue to provide critical health services to our veterans for the next two years.

The bill was introduced by Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., and has garnered broad, bipartisan support from 12 Senate co-sponsors in total. In addition to co-sponsoring this legislation, Isakson and Chambliss will continue to work to resolve the issues surrounding VA clinic leases.

"It is our duty to ensure that the brave men and women who have served our country in our armed forces receive the care that they need," said Isakson, who serves on the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee. "I am proud to join my colleagues in co-sponsoring this critically importantly legislation that would keep VA clinics open across the country, including the outpatient clinic in of Cobb County which provides services to veterans across metro Atlanta."
