Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer released the statement following his vote in support for H.R. 444, the Require a Plan Act. H.R. 444 requires the President to submit a supplemental budget by April 1, 2013 in the event that the President's initial 2014 budget submission does not achieve balance within a fiscal year covered by the initial budget.
"Every American family knows first-hand what it is like to live on a budget. Times may be tough, but we work hard, we save, we make sacrifices and we live within our means. The Senate has not passed a budget in four years and yesterday marked the fourth time in five years the President failed to deliver a budget to Congress. President Obama and his administration must lead by example in efforts to restore economic prosperity back into American households. House Republicans are committed to getting Washington spending under control, which is why I voted for the "Require a PLAN Act," to require the president explain to the American people how he intends to balance the budget. A balanced budget matters to senior citizens who rely on the benefits they earn, the middle-class Americans struggling to make ends meet and to our children whose future is in jeopardy from the out of control spending in Washington."
