Congressman Ami Bera took part in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on last year's attack on the American embassy in Benghazi with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton earlier today.
After the hearing, he offered the following comment:
"I appreciate Secretary Clinton's years of service to our country and her candor at today's hearing. As we move further into the 21st century, our State Department personnel are increasingly placed in dangerous scenarios and are interacting with sub-national groups and revolutionaries in dangerous regions all over the world. It is our duty to make sure we do everything in our power to keep them safe, and today's hearing was a necessary step in finding out how we can do that. I commend Chairman Royce and Ranking Member Engel for their leadership in this important exercise in democracy."
