Sequester

Dear Friends,

In the coming weeks, you will hear a lot about sequestration. As usual, there is more spin than truth coming from President Obama. His hysterical claims about its impact are especially rich considering sequestration was his idea. This is his game: promise spending cuts down the road, more taxes now, and when the time comes to cut spending, demand even more tax increases.

Remember, the President won a huge tax increase as part of the fiscal cliff deal I voted against. It wasn't enough because for a big government liberal taxes are never high enough. The federal government is set to collect more revenue this year than any previous year in American history, yet here he is demanding another tax hike.

Spending is the problem. Too much spending is what is driving our debt and harming our economy. Sequestration may not be the ideal way to cut, and the House has twice passed bills to replace it with smarter cuts. Democrats rejected both bills.

The American people expect us to work together to find solutions to our problems, but trading spending cuts for tax increases is not a solution.

Stay in touch and God bless,
