Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement today in response to President Obama's speech in Newport News, Virginia regarding sequestration.
"Today, President Obama traveled to Newport News, Virginia to inspire public outrage and continue his endless campaign to raise taxes and grow the government. Instead of traveling a few miles to meet with Harry Reid and the Democratic-controlled Senate to replace his sequester, the President has traveled over 5,226 miles around the country dividing the American people. House Republicans have already passed two bills to replace the sequester only to be ignored by the President and the Democratic-controlled Senate. The President has already raised taxes on all Americans last month, and no one should be talking about raising taxes when the government is spending billions on wasteful projects. That's why I have offered solutions to replace his sequester with responsible cuts and reforms and I'm willing to work with the President and Senate Democrats to avert this crisis. I truly hope the President is ready to put partisan rhetoric aside and finally lead the American people."
