Ann Wagner Statement on Passage of Legislation to Eliminate Pay Raises for Members of Congress

Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) today issued the following statement as the House of Representatives passed legislation to eliminate the 2013 statutory pay adjustment for Federal employees:

"I am resolute to vote against giving myself a pay raise. As families across the 2nd District are tightening their belts and living within their means so should Members of Congress and the Federal government. That's why I voted to overturn President Obama's executive fiat that would increase the salaries of Federal employees, Members of Congress, and yes, even Vice President Joe Biden who already makes over $225,000 a year. Instead of passing executive orders behind closed doors, President Obama should be working with Congress to enact policies that will help grow our economy out of this economic downturn and increase the standard of living for hardworking middle-class families. I came to Congress to get things done and it's time to start working on behalf of the American people instead of increasing the government's slice of the pie."
